Mykola Tomenko reminds on Moratorium on Mass Media Monitoring
N. Tomenko reminded that after his initiative on 10 July 2009 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed the Resolution "On Provision of unobstructed activity of Mass Media during the Elections Period", according to which, National Council is recommended to abolish schedules of television and radio companies check for the period of elections campaign on the elections of the President of Ukraine. The Cabinet of Ministers is obliged to take measures regarding the stop of the mass media check for this period by relevant services of executive power bodies, by State Tax Administration of Ukraine.
Consequently, the Vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was surprised by the position of National Council during the last sitting where it was proposed to implement pre-termed checking.
M. Tomenko called National Council to act exclusively in the framework of the effective law.
